At Dungallan Country House, we have always valued heritage, culture and a strong sense of place. That is why we are especially proud to share some news about our owner, Patrik.
Being a Swiss Citizen, Patrik’s journey to Oban came from a genuine first love of Scotland and its traditions. Since settling here, he has fully embraced Highland life. Many of our guests will have seen this first-hand, whether through his welcoming presence or by hearing him play the bagpipes.
We are delighted to share that Patrik is now an honourable member of the Highland Games in Switzerland. It is a role that brings together both his Swiss roots and his passion for Scottish culture.
The Games take place in Brunnen, on the shores of Lake Lucerne. It is a striking setting and a fitting stage for an event that celebrates everything from piping and drumming to traditional Highland sports. The atmosphere is always lively and it continues to grow each year.
Patrik is not only involved behind the scenes. He also takes part as a piper, adding his own contribution to the weekend and helping keep the traditions alive in a very real way.
The next games will be particularly special for us at Dungallan. The team representing Central Switzerland will be wearing Dungallan’s own exclusive tartan. Seeing it worn at the Games is something we are very proud of and it reflects the strong connection between Scotland and Switzerland that sits at the heart of our story.
For us, this is about more than an event. It is about shared culture, lasting connections and celebrating traditions across borders. From Oban to Lake Lucerne, it is a link we are proud to be part of.
